(Feeling) Powerless

Ensnared in a web of
ropes.
Trapped, I reach, crawl,
cower, cringe and claw.
This is not
real life.
It can’t be
real life.
Am I sleeping?
Am I
dreaming?
Tell me I’m sleeping.
This is only a
nightmare.

To be powerless is unfamiliar.
Time to wake up.

Feeling…Frisky

Remember this?

Hopscotch, jump rope, playing in the garden.
Pinwheels, cartwheels, running through sprinklers.

Spinning til dizzy.

Tree climbing, freeze tag, racing downhill on roller skates.
Hide n seek, playing in the street, hands free bike riding.

No using the brakes.

Kickball, Red Rover, making mud pies.
Red Light, Green Light, bouncing on trampolines.

Giggling with imaginary friends.

All in one summer afternoon.

Frisky falls away when we grow up.

I double dog dare you to get it back.

Feeling…Inquisitive

What is the meaning of
life? Is it purpose, children,
love, or just living?

Why is the sky
blue, the grass green,
my hair turning grey? Are
these childish questions?

Who is God? Have you
met Him? On the other hand, is it
Her? Is it both? What does
God look like?

When will the world
end? Have you wondered?
Do you care?

How do we know when
chicken is cooked or
black currants are
ripe? Will you ask Google?

Where do the rabbits in my
backyard make their
nest? Are they happy?

I wonder…are you as
inquisitive as I am?
